AustLII provides free online access to public legal information, including primary legal materials (legislation, treaties, court and tribunal decisions) and secondary legal materials (commentaries and summaries, journals, royal commission reports and the like) created by public bodies.

Their broad public policy agenda is "to improve access to justice through better access to information". The site receives more than 700,000 hits per day, and hosts more than four million searchable documents (AustLII, August 2017). This makes them one of the largest online sources of legal materials.

AustLII is part of an consortium of legal information institutes that have collaboratively developed WorldLII, a global legal research facility.

The collection is searchable using SINO,a free text retrieval engine developed by AustLII. If you are interested in using SINO, contact AustLII

Visit AustLII's Web Developers' page to find information on embedding AustLII search in your own site, or using the SINO CGI API
